FIRST TIME

PREREQUISITES

I have never skied before. This is my first time skiing.

BEGINNER

I can stop independently on flat terrain and do my first snow plough turns.

GOALS FOR YOUR LESSON

  • Information on how to use the equipment

  • Sidestepping/Duckwalking uphill

  • Gliding in the fall line, braking using the snow plough

  • Change of direction out of the fall line

  • How to use the lift facilities safely

  • Snow plough turns on an easy slope

  • etc.

  • How to use the chairlift/T-bar safely

  • Letting the skis slip on the steeper parts of a blue slope

  • Snow plow turns down an easy blue slope

  • Traversing with parallel skis

  • Skiing over bumps and dips

  • Parallel turns down an easy blue slope

  • etc.

INTERMEDIATE

I master the snowplough and I am working on my parallel turns. I feel confident on blue runs and I am starting to get comfortable on red runs.

  • Parallel turns down a blue slope

  • Speed control and stopping with parallel skis

  • Skidded parallel turns down a red slope

  • Learning strategies on different snowpack/terrain

  • Parallel turns using different turn shapes

  • Basic air

ADVANCED

I master parallel turns. I feel confident on red runs, maybe even some blacks. 

  • Skiing more efficiently

  • Learning different strategies to feel more comfortable on challenging terrain/snow conditions

  • Carved parallel turns on different slopes

  • Short turns in moguls

  • Jumps/Park (Etiquette)/Freestyle

  • Race Training GS and Slalom

  • etc.

OFF-PISTE

I can tackle what the mountain throws at me and would like to get into ski touring and off-piste skiing.

  • How to find information and read an avalanche report

  • How to use an avalanche transceiver
